Chad “The Dad” Myers
BJJ Black Belt – Featherweight

Trained under the prestigious Kristian Woodmansee, I achieved my Black Belt in 2023. My competitive track record includes:

  • Champion at the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi Pan Ams
  • Third place at the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi Pan Ams – Absolute Division
  • Third place at the 2022 IBJJF Pan Ams
  • Third place at the 2021 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship

As the founder of Flow State Jiu Jitsu, I’ve had the honor of coaching several students to Pan, World, and ADCC Championships in their respective divisions.

A father of four, my kids have been an integral part of my journey. They’ve stood in my corner during competitions, eagerly offering strategies like “Dad! Armbar!” or “Pass the guard, Dad!” Their support sparked the affectionate moniker “Chad the Dad” by a commentator, which has since become a beloved signature.

My coaching philosophy centers on the “DC kids” – dedicating equal intensity to their success as to my own professional growth. Our mantra is simple: work hard and have fun on the mats.

Embrace a partnership with me on your BJJ voyage, whether in gi or no-gi, and let’s cultivate your potential together.

I do not teach “Move Based” Jiu Jitsu. I embody conceptual Jiu Jitsu.

Concept based Jiu Jitsu will launch your game levels beyond where you are now, because your overall understanding of Jiu Jitsu will finally flourish.

Memorizing a million techniques is nearly impossible and often times will have no application. However, if you master the concepts, then you will create your own Jiu Jitsu.

I want to teach you the alphabet and how to spell, but it’s up to you to write your own book how you see fit.

Having this method builds an incredible foundation, where each persons game can be adapted and tailored appropriately to their personality. While simultaneously containing the proper fundamentals and execution because their foundation is laid by their in depth understanding of the concepts, as opposed to be focused on the movements.

Martial Arts is something to be felt and experienced, not something to be done to someone else. “Be like Water” is our Slogan. “Flow State” is our name. You will understand exactly how to adapt based on what the situation presents with no attachment. Just as water takes the form of whatever container it fills.

The key to success is the ability to adapt, while at the same time not compromising your foundation.

I am dedicated to each student. That is a guarantee. I will go above and beyond. That is a guarantee. I will not compromise my values. That is a guarantee.
